New paper: Shatter Cones published in Science Advances

I am pleased to announce that on August 5th, a new paper on shatter cones was published in the journal Science Advances. As summarized in this media release from Western, this paper reports several new insights into how shatter cones form. Shatter cones are one of the most distinctive products of meteorite impact and remain the only unequivocal way to recognize a meteorite impact structure in the field – all other techniques require the investigation of samples in a lab environment. In addition to investigating how shatter cones form, we were also able to demonstrate where in impact craters shatter cones form – and to use this to re-restimate the size of several eroded impact craters on Earth.
